I am deeply concerned with the violent direction our country is taking, led by a once fringe digital Frankenstein called QAnon. This toxic monster is currently proliferating like oxalis, and as hard to pull out. How they got this powerful, I don’t completely understand. But like Trump’s incendiary rhetoric, QAnon feeds on suppressed anger, fears, personal frustration, and an unacknowledged touch of insanity. QAnon envisions a world of devil worshiping pedophiles, mostly Democrats and left wing media elites, all part of a deep state that only Donald Trump can root out, prosecute, and destroy.
Yes, it is bizarre, irrational, paranoid, and psychotic but thousands, if not millions are drawn to its iconoclastic and cryptic messages and dogwhistles. Someone with the moniker of ‘Q is fueling the fire with supposed codes from Trump that the time has come for action—violent action against the corrupt status quo which has stolen the election away from Trump, despite the confirmed fact that that has all been investigated and debunked by the courts, reporters, legislators, and every sane source in America. Still QAnon supporters insist on their interpretation of facts, twisting and distorting the truth into manifestoes for actions as violent and seditious as 1/6/21—the insurrection at our Capitol building, causing legislators to hide and cower in fear for their lives.
QAnon must be stopped cold in its tracks or it will continue with its goals of white supremacy, anti Semitism, fascism, distortion of the truth, pandemic myths, anti-mask and vax, murder of elected officials, and reinstalling Trump to the Presidency. If you are a QAnon supporter, and it’s difficult to know who is without one openly revealing their fidelity, I urge you to leave this dangerous cult and return to sanity and rationality. If you know of anyone who is a Q sympathizer, I urge you to report this person to the authorities since QAnon has been declared a terrorist organization by the FBI (The Federal Bureau of Investigation believes conspiracy theories like QAnon and Pizzagate pose a domestic-terrorism threat, YahooNews reports)
I urge you to refrain from voting for or supporting any candidate who expresses QAnon sympathies such as recently elected U.S. representatives from Colorado and Georgia. We can’t have these Republican radicals in our national government. It’s equivalent to a cancer that invades one’s body. Speaking from personal experience, it starts out as a slight pain then branches out and metastasizes from there into a lethal illness. If diagnosed and caught early, it can often be arrested and subdued with strong medicine, as was in my case.
Let me be clear: QAnon is a social cancer that must be treated with the political and law enforcement equivalent of the strong R-CHOP cocktail of meds my oncologist prescribed for me. Our First Amendment guarantees freedom of speech, but not speech that deceives and advocates violence. There are limits to that Amendment, but I don’t think many people understand that. The hatred and vitriol spewed out by QAnon and other white supremacist groups does not qualify for First Amendment protection.
If you stumble upon them and know their names, inform the FBI. If you know of one among your friends and family, talk to them and try to convince them to leave this harmful cult. If you are a QAnon supporter or sympathizer, let it go and leave it. There is no room for you in our democratic republic of laws and rational behavior.
